I finished this one up today.  It's a 58" ntn straight longbow.  I had not put it on the scale but passed it around to a few different kids and it's just right.  I have shot it a few times at 28" and I would say it is about 38# at that draw.

I used .030 glass, stained curly maple veneers, a parallel actionboo core and a 36" powerlam for the taper.  No overlays but it does have Pierce points in the riser! (which are walnut and hickory).

Yeah, the power lam was just an experiment as I had a few laying around.  It actually worked out pretty good and you don't have to use tapers (which are rather valuable to me do to the time is takes me to make them).

The points are in the riser, right above the rest in the 5th picture...That pic really doesn't show them too well, so let me try to find another.

What kind of stain did you use on the laminations?

bjansen

I used Fieblings leather dye - Ox Blood Red..2 coats.

That is real nice bow Brad.  Love the pierce points.  How many think Brad needs to do a build a long on the pierce points?  Me says yes.

I would like to Dave....but he might be just be a bit too young next year though.  Ok Jess..well get a Pierce points build along going here. If we get the rain we are supposed to this weekend I am building  hill style form and we can try it on that.

On this bow, I simply layed the lam stack on a 2x8, layed the uninflated hose on top, wrapped the entire thing pretty tight with plastic pallet tape and then enflated the hose.  That was cheating but it worked fairly good.

I second the build along.

I also say that is GORGEOUS. What a beauty.

And your innovative ideas are not cheating bro. They're advancing the game. Keep up the incredible work.
