Had a talk today about measuring weight at draw length.If you have a bow that is marked 45 lbs. @ 28", how would you check the weight @ 28". I have been taught to draw the bow to 28" measured from the string to web of grip, and read weight on scale . The gentleman I was talking to said he measures 28" from the string to the front of riser and reads weight on scale. Don

Measure from the string to the front of the riser which is actually the back of the bow.

Marty z is right, as far as measuring to AMO specs anyway.  They figure 1 3/4" for the grip, + 26 1/4" gives you the AMO 28".

My confusion came from my days shooting a compound. I remember the bow you draw to get your draw length. The eye hook is where the berger button hole would be. This is also where the deepest part of the grip is. The shop I wired and worked in had a college shooter, who owned the shop, that would measure recurves that were shot in college, this way. Don

You can do it that way Don as long as your arrow mark hits the 28" spot when your string is 26 1/4" from the deepest part of the grip.
