Hey Marty is that a home made edge sander? Any chance we can get a couple more pics of that thing? I've been looking to make my own and my ideas look like your sander!

I'm not about to embarrass myself by showing pictures of my shop, which serves two fold as a garage, but the mess is such that you couldn't squeeze a vehicle in there if there was a hail storm coming and I had 2 days to prepare for it!   :scared:    :knothead:

Wow, Some of you guys are set up! Someday I hope to have something half that nice.

It's been a while, and I finally have the pics to post of my own "shop". It changes every week, depending on the project. Split, mobile benches that can be clipped together to create either a 48" X 48" bench or 96" X 24" bench, give me a ton of flexibility. It does get crowded at times, but i'm sure we all feel that way. My brainasium is my favorite part. Hours get lost there on a regular basis. I did 90% of this with things I kept from when I renovated our house this past winter. Old full doors, bi-fold doors, and even the kitchen counters and an old dresser became benches, shelves, and didn't cost me a dime. It still needs finishing IMO, but I still love it the way it is too. The furnace, and overhead shelving was existing. I removed another section equal to the existing overhead shelf cause it was too much, and it turned into a bench by the fire pit. Otherwise I stripped the garage to sheathing, and started from there. I re-used light fixtures and gave the shop more than 12x the lumens it started with. It's also equipped with 220, and I intend on putting a window and door leading to the back yard in the near future.

Thanks PD. I figured if i'm going to get one, I better get one and be done. 2 hours is quite a ways to come split lumber but if you ever need to resaw some stuff, load the truck and help yourself brother.

KellyG

well that is a nice shop fish, now stop showing it off and get some bows built.

Roy from Pa

Fish, that's a sissy pant's no dust shop:) LOL

I know John Sturdevant's shop looks like a chemical company clean room.

Man if you guys only knew how much dust is really in that garage... you'd definitely be singing a different tune. I HATE dust, but I love shavins. My next purchase is going to be a dust collector for sure. Even before I get a compressor.

Kelly - There's a bow billet on the bench brother!

Roy - I willingly accept my new name of "Sissy Fish Pants".    :goldtooth:

Hey man Im a "sissy pant 3 under shooter"! He only says that crap because he safely nestled away in PA where we cant reach his old, crusty butt!

Hey fish n chicks, that's a nice shop you have there. Mine's crowded and I'm always bumping into things or trying not to trip over extention cords. Is the overhead furace a gas burner or electric? That's something I could use. it gets cold here in winter.
Dave.
P.S. If the furnace burns gas be careful about wood dust in the air while it's on.

I feel sad I only have a draw knife, rasp and sandpaper. The old guy I knew (mentor) use to laugh and say whats the draw knife for. He built self bows for 50 years with just 2 rasps. A really big one (2 foot ) COURSE and the other one was FINE one (foot long).

Love the pics of the shops. We just sold our house and my shop is in about a hundred totes and small storage unit. But just as soon as we get our new house done I get to start with a clean slate in a 24x30 that is setting on my drafting table at the moment. Thanks for the ideas.

Semo sorry bud but I have had to promise that I would not let the overcrowded garage guys to influence me any more and I would walk the straight path and keep the new shop like fish's.    :)
