Description:  Join Gary Kepko as he shares his secrets for making one of the oldest hunting/shooting devices known to man. In this two-day class, Gary will teach you how to build a bamboo-backed hickory longbow. The first of the two classes will cover choosing your bow woods, good designs, bowyer vocabulary, and how to train wood to bend. You will build a classic-style longbow that you will be proud to use for target shooting, stumping or hunting. We will be using the bandsaw to rough-cut the form and hand tools to turn the rough-cut form into a functioning bow. You will learn how to build your bow to the desired draw weight. We will also discuss selecting the proper arrows for your particular bow and draw weight. At the end of the class you will have a shooting longbow and Flemish braided Dacron string.

But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

Funny you should bring this up.  In their latest magazine they have an article from a gentlemen in Idaho who gives some plans and description in making a bamboo backed yellow heart longbow.  He also mentions classes at the stores.  I'm gonna attempt his bow from his plans and he see how it goes.  Thanks to my father-in-law for passing it on to me!

The fellows name is Tom Turgeon.

If you check out his website,  www.boisebowsandarrows.com  he has a list of venue's where he will be doing bow building seminars. He does a lot of traveling, by his list of places he will running seminars at.

The Woodcraft magazine article (Vol. 6/No.36)is pretty informative.
