i was wondering with all these modern products being used for bow such as carbon fiber, foam and such has anyone evey used a strip on 1/16th spring steel for a lamination or core?  just something i was pondering

Beaver,I think bows were made with steel years ago,the physical weight of steel I would guess is the reason you don't see it?

it would still be lighter than a compound bow i know that.  i f had any bow making skills i would be trying it , but i dont

It is more the physical weight of the limbs and especially at the tips. Heavy weight handle area can be good for stability.
 Fred Bear(I believe) made aluminum lams for bows for a short while but gave up the idea for fiberglass.
