the bow i am currently building, 64in. med r/d with a 20.5in riser came out 50# @ 28in. that is without any sanding on the glass or rounding of the edges so after finishing i know from experience that i will loose a little more and i really dont want a bow under 50# so i was thinking i could reduce the length to 62in. what i would like is some input if it would work and how much # i could possibly gain HELP APPRECIATED!

In my experience you should gain 2-3 lbs per 1 inch removed in length . That should balance your loss from finish work.
Never trade time for money, cause when your out of time money don't matter

I have seen more like 5 lbs per inch

My 64" med d/r with 18" riser and .003 total taper in limbs gains 6# by going to 62".

Every design will be a bit different, so keep good records!! LOL

Good luck,Kenny

Yep, on my bows they would gain right at 6# by reducing the NTN length by two inches.
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

The one thing that I see is the riser length being longer it could cause it to increase a little more than most piking situations. I would bet that it would gain about 8 or 9 pounds by reducing the ntn by 2". If it were an 18" riser I would say a couple #s less than that.

i shortened 3/4in. each end and gained 6#  tiller still looked ok so i am pleased with the bow now!
