Aloha to All ,
Am glad to finally register and join this forum. 4est boardbow pulled me rite in. Its late here so just wanted to introduce myself .
Im 33 , have 4 kids, a wife , and live on the island of Kauai.I am a landscaper/gardener full time and a half . Bein hunting with compounds bows since high school ,goats and pigs here.Anyways out of the  blue thought it would be neat one day to mess around w/ my 12 year old son and make a stick bow . WWWHHHOOOAAA , thats when it all started. Tools all over the place, pieces of wood shavings  everywhere and a "TILLERING STICK " . It hit me like a flu.
Anyways used woods from around here , mostly our iron wood. Seems to crack alot. Will try guava next. But 4est tracker , thank you so much for a project I could afford , take my mind of current stresses and let me larn a new part of  the hunting world. We may loose our house to bank soon and times are really tough but I now have a trad bow, that i made myself, that i will hunt with , thanks to all your info . I will catch up with you later with some photo's .
Anyways , got to go , but you all may be gettin sick of me all soon . I got a whole lot of questions for you all .Hope I can give something back also. By the way , board bow is 5'10" and pulls 56# at 28 inches, mmm , mmm sweet
Love hunting ,no matter what style

Welcome Paka! Can't wait to see some pics. There is another Tgang member in Hawaii, can't think of his name right now but he makes some really sweet guava bows!

Manny (Northshorelongbow) would be who you're thinking of. Actually, I don't think he's registered any more. He hasn't posted on Paleoplanet for a couple of yars either

Hi Paka   :wavey:  Welcme to the site! Look forward to seeing some pics.

Welcome . My family and I got to visit Maui two years ago and it seemed like a wonderful place especially compared to a Michigan winter.....sorry to here about your job if we can lend a hand let us know......I would highly recommended making your own string if you don't already it is rewarding also..and pretty affordable

I know the "sickness" to which you refer, welcome  :bigsmyl:

Thanks all ,
Nex is deffinately making a good string. Im using nylon now, serving is dental floss, and using yarn for wiskers. It works though. Made my finger tab out of my tool belt and am working on feathers for arrows. We have lots of chickens, pheasents and even some swans at my work place. The chickens and pheasants are wild. Also need to mae a arm guard.
Welp daughters throwing her food from high chair , catch u all later.
P.S. Added a walnut stain to red oak board bow last night, sweeeeeet
Love hunting ,no matter what style
