Alain, a friend of us asked if we could help him building a bow. Of course we would love to do that. He choosed cocobolo, actionboo and walnut. This is what we got from Kenny...

Glueing up the bow...

And here she is after cleaning up the excess glue..

Thanks again Kenny for those amazing cocobolo lams. They look absolutely awesome under the clear glass.

Hi Herman, the stack we are using is the following...

0.05 glass
0.05 cocobolo parallel
0.10 actionboo 0.002 taper
0.10 actionboo 0.002 taper
0.05 cocobolo parallel
0.05 glass

The bow will be 66" NTN and we're aiming for 45-50@28.

BTW Alain is doing all the work, I'm just standing around taking pictures and making useless comments...

Alain did progress quite a bit with his longbow. After cleaning the bow he marked the center and the outline of the limbs.

Now it already looks like a bow...

Filing the string grooves...

...and we have a new longbow...

The draw weight scale shows 50@28 and that's perfect. We can loose 2-3 pounds an we're spot on his desired weight.

After that is time to cut out the window...

...file the shelf with a rasp...

...shape the riser...

...glue on the tips ( this time we used CA, because the last time I used epoxy and had some issues ).

And this is what we got after another hour of sanding...

All that Alain needs to do is glue on and shape the overlays and a lot of sanding before he can apply the finish.

We went shooting some arrows and it looks like we have converted on more into traditional bow shooting. I have to admit that I envy him for those fantastic looking cocobolo lams...d;-)

It took him a while to finish his bow, he was very busy at work. But now it's done and he's the proud owner of a new longbow...

Nice bow to say the least! Those coco lams are wild.
