Col,I have no opinion on those 2 saws. I know you asked for an opinion on these 2 models..I am also looking around at new 14" band saws. I believe the 14" Jet and  14"Grizzly band saws are popular with guys who build bows. I have an older 12" craftsman thats 1 hp, I use a 1/2" carbide blade, my saw will bog down under load but still cuts good. I am looking at buying a 1 1/2hp 14" saw and at this time I am leaning towards the Grizzly. Have you tried to find comments on Amazon.com or a wood workers web site?

3/4 hp is a little light. It will do what you want with a sharp blade but 1 1/2 hp is much better.

Spend a few extra bucks and buy a bigger one.

Grizzly 14" with at least a 1hp motor is the way to go IMO.

I have a 14" Rigid 1 hp from Home Depot that works very well for me.  whatever  you choose, go with at least 1 hp.

The horsepower is good on the PC, however...

Porter Cable and Delta have merged and they are putting some lower end (from Taiwan) models on the market. This is one of them, hence the nice price. It really depends on how tight the quality control is at the manufacturer. Grizzly has stuff built over there too, but they hold their stuff to pretty tight tolerances. I'd personally look it over and see how beefy it looks. Cheap tools look cheap.  That said, I like Grizzly. Great customer service.

After a couple weeks of window shopping I'm starting to think the Grizzly with the 1HP motor is the way to go. It's $524 shipped

That should be a good saw for you. They've always treated me good.

p.s. Get the timberwolf silicon steel (positive claw) blades. They are about $2 cheaper from Suffolk Machinery, but Grizzly sells them too, so you can probably save on shipping by having them sent with the saw. You won't be disappointed with these blades. Suffolk can help you if you don't know how many TPI you need, but 3 or 4 TPI X 1/2" will do most of your work.
