A friend want to build his own longbow. He's aiming for a draw weight of 40-45#31". The bow length is 66" and the riser length is 18" and the design is mild R/D. Because of the increased draw length we are not quite sure about the total stack. I guessed that with 0.360 we should be quite close. We are going to use a total taper of 0.004. What do you guys think ? Any hints and recommendations a gladly appreciated.

Are you positive he has a 31" draw.I had a 31" draw with my compound bow but with my long bow or recurve im only drawing 28.5"-29" which veries greatly depending on weather im Just drawing my bow back, target shooting, hunting on the ground or tree stand ect...Just some thing to check into.

Have you built one off the form with .004? Mine is .003 taper total,it comes in at 50@28 with .365,64" bow.  The .004 would make it lighter weight, but how much I'm not sure...
Stay sharp, Kenny.

He is like 1.9 metres ( 6.4 foot ) tall and we checked his draw length again last night. He effectively draws 31".

The one I'm building right now has a total taper of 0.004 and it looks like I'm getting right where I want it and I also like the way it bends. But actually he doesn't care that much if the total taper is 0.003 or 0.004. His main concern is not to get a bow that is like 20# to heavy.
