Built this one several weeks ago 66" NTN 55# @ 28. Made this one to shoot right or left for a friend of mine. The stain was kinda crazy with Green Tea and Coffee then added a light pine stain over that. It's 21/4 at the fades tapered to 1/2 inch. Not sure of the speed but It's pretty quick and shoots hard.   [/IMG]   [/IMG]   [/IMG]  [/IMG]

Nice job, I just bought a pair of red oak boards the other day, 1/2 x 2.5 x 36. Look to be sister boards, both have very nice straight grain. How wide is your handle section? If I wanted a 45 pound bow, could I narrow the flares a bit?

Nice bow WT. Will you post an unbraced pic. Looks like you added reflex to the outer limbs.I made a pyramid hickory backed red oak bow that is a great shooting bow. Mysticguito(Sal) has it now.
Roy, you should easily be able to get 45#. The bow Sal has was the same materials you bought with a hickory backing and I believe it is 50# to 55#.

Thanks Pat, I guess my real question is, can I narrow the flares down some from 2 1/4 and get a 45 pound bow? If so, how narrow could I go?

Yes it does seem to have a little reflex, how did ya do that WT. Heat? All the bow's I have ever made, except for the last bow in the above picture on the right, I have always backed them with boo into deflex/reflex.

Roy this one.. The limbs are just under a half inch thick and the handle is 1 inch wide. I made this one from a 1"x3"x6' board after looking at 50 boards are so this one was the best. It pulls pretty close to 45# at 26". Built this one from 4est build along......thanks 4est!!

Pat I thought I had one but guess I don't...I'll see if I can get one. Thanks

This bow is osage backed with red elm, induced a little reflex with the glue up. It's the same bow as the one on the right in the above picture. Black Walnut handle.

I'm south of Midland about 80 miles and yep not many trees.I have a couple nice Hackberry trees picked out for this spring...I made a little 48 incher out of a Hackberry sapling that I'm just amazed at how strong that wood holds up with no set at all.

Roy that looks like it's gonna be pretty quick..I like it. I can see this spring I'm gonna be busy.

Thanks WT, sorry if I hijacked your bow thread. I just got carried away:) Roy
