I bought a 2x8x48 black limba board from a internet wood dealer, it was advertised as a great looking piece of wood. Upon arrival I found that it has 20 tiny worm holes on each side. I wanted to make some recurve and longbow risers with it. My question is since I am stuck with this board can I try to inject glue into the tiny 1/16 inch holes or is this board only good for overlays?  I have less than $30 invested in it.

I  had a similar piece of bolivian rose wood, the price was right, so I bought it with the holes, I worked the layout to minimize the holes and then during glue up smooth on epoxy did the rest.

I had two holes that were visible, which were filled with epoxy. It may not be good for someone who is in the business to sell their products but for me it made a shooter (plus the story)

Good luck

The wood was Bubinga. It had a 3/32 dia plug of epoxy. The customer asked what it was. I told him it was a plugged worm hole. He asked where the other end came out. I looked him in the eye and said "the alpha quadrant" (it's a Star Trek thing). He bought the bow. Should have been a car salesman.

ive bought wood over internet bad deal most of the time. they say wood is dryed most of the time it is not ends up cracking and checking.better off buying from wood store.

I am a rookie and am still learning..the closest wood stores are 100 miles away, I think it would be worth the drive again when needed. I drove 120 miles one way last month and hand picked 5 good exotic 8/4 boards. I did ok with most of the online wood, but will not buy again unless its from a bow wood supplier like KennyM, everything I have bought from him is100%. I can use the not so great stuff for overlays, riser stripes knife handles,a guy at work turns duck and grunt calls, I can always donate reject bow wood to the local high school wood shop.
