so i have shoot about 100 shoots off my still unfinished glass/boo recurve.  i trapped it 30 deg back side thin (it was still shocky) and finished the riser with system 3 epoxy clear coat.  the bow came at 42# at 28" after the trap,  If i remember right it is 63" NTN  so i decided i would shoot it a time or two,  it was about 15 Deg out side, i took it out to back set it down, dug out some arrows(about 30 mins), drew  and herd it creak and pop (loud enough to scar me..) at full draw (30") I didn't shoot, brought the bow back in side and inspected it.  i cant find any fractures or de-Laminated Epoxy clear coat.  Since I was cold i exercised the bow by hand (in the shop) starting at about 15" then working my way to about 30in drew it maybe 50-60 times.  no more creaking or popping.  Any ideas?  i thought maybe the cold could have caused the epoxy clear coat or smooth on to get to stiff.  so the question what do you think caused it, and how cold is too cold?  i plan to elk hunt next year near the snow line, so i need a bow that will hold up to the cold.

Is your string flemish? Sometimes the wax on a new string makes a similar sound when it lifts off the recurves, likely even worse in cold temps.  If I were shooting at 15 degrees my old bones would be popping LOL.

Some times when the string isn't fully seated in the nocks it'll do that as it pops back in.

the wax from the string will stick to the string grooves and creek and pop in cold weather as you draw it.

Honestly if you can handle the cold, so can your bow!  I cant speak yet for wood bows..but glass you'll be fine.

Another thing it could be, if the string knocks aren't cut so the string is still in the side groove when drawn it will pop and creak.

Oops sorry, I see it's a recurve, different animal, thinking longbow.
