In general what length of string can you expect to be contacting a recurve limb past the limb groove in the limb.  This is when the bow is properly tuned.  I am twisting a string on my bows and trying to record the ideal string length so that I can order strings.

Normally a recurve string is 4" shorter than the tip to tip measurement, measured on the belly over the curves tip to tip. Longbows 3" shorter.

Depends on how much of the limb is a working recurve and how long of a groove the bowyer made.  I've had bows where there was just barely a hint of a groove and others where the groove extended well past where the string lifts off the bwo at brace.
