This is a bow I've been working on the past couple months for a friend and fellow gang member.  Targeting around 20@24.  I'll be tillering and the limbs this week.

Mesquite riser, and the limbs are edge grain Red Elm from KennyM.  The limbs are still taped up to protect the clear glass.  

This is after some 80grit sanding, and a wipe down with denatured alcohol.  Really looking forward to cleaning it up with some finer grit paper.  The color of the wood is amazing.

The bow is looking great, Oakley is going to be awestruck. That mesquite will turn a rich deep red with age. Fantastic work Tim !!!!!

Man I love Mesquite.  The best thing about it is as it ages it gets darker.  Shes a looker for sure.

Well, its done.  Here are the finished pictures.

Thank you to Chuck and his son for being so patient.  This bow has been in the works for the better part of this year due to my travelling with work, and family commitments.  I hope it was worth the wait.

Spec'd out at 28@24, smooth drawing and quick. Limb cores are edge grain Red Elm from Kenny, and the riser was taken from a saw cut hunk of Mesquite.

Oakley is going to love that bow, nice job Tim.

WOW Tim  !!!!!!!   That is truly awesome. Oakley will now be shooting both primitive ( Dano's snakey osage ) as well as recurve. If he's anything like his big brother, Cal, then all I can say is look out critters and competition. I will post some pics when he gets it.

I'm glad you like it Charles, and would love some pictures of Oakley putting it thru its paces.

Chris, I think that riser design would handle anything up to 35lbs maybe more.  I've yet to build limbs that high since the ones I've made have been for young shooters, and it's only a 48" profile.  As they get older, and draw more weight than 35lbs, they're probably going to have a longer draw length than what that bow length could handle.... Guess I really need to get started on something a bit bigger.
