Hello all.  Could y'all please give me a little advice on some cracks that developed in my hickory stave?  The pictures below show a couple of cracks about midway down on one limb.  The crack nearest the permanent marker is about 2 inches long right now and it will be right at the edge of the limb when the bow is finished.  The other crack is about 7 inches long and is about 1/4 inch away from the smaller crack.  Is there any hope that this can be a usable weapon or is it trash?

Fill them with super glue until they won't hold any more and forget them. They won't be a problem.

Adding to what Eric said....  Don't place them in the bow so they run off the edge of your limb.

I agree with both Eric and No-sage.And after you do these two things you could back it I you wished.To be safe after all your work.

the cracks run with the grain,. That's good. Just make sure the cracks do not run off the limb. Fill them with crazy glue and proceed as normal.

I have used superglue to fill cracks in the nodes on bamboo. It is thin and works into them, but it might help to turn it end-to-end to promote seeping into the ends of the cracks, then fill it to the top. Unless they are on one side, wait for the first to dry before doing the next.
