anybody use the alcohol dye? whats the best way to dye 0.030 or 0.040 veneers? thanks, Robert

I have had good results with rit dye and denatured alcohol.

Adding water could raise the grain. I don't believe alcohol would do that.

I use leather dye, works great on wood and it comes in a bunch of colors.

I use the alchohol based as it supposedly doesn't raise the grain as much as water based but the alchohol based is also supposedly more prone to fading but I've never noticed the fading problem.

I've used powdered Rit dye disolved in alchol and Fiebing's alcohol based leather dye.  Rit is cheaper and found in any grocery store.  Fiebing's has a much more rich color, that isn't as prone to fading as the Rit.  There are analine wood dyes available, too, though I haven't tried them.
