I've been eyeballing some of this for veneers! I think it is some of the prettiest stuff around. I figure if I go really thin, the heavy weight won't hurt me. Can't be much worse than osage can it?

I really should be honest and say that I have been dreaming about these boards.  It's bad when you are planning your next bow in your sleep!

 

Beautiful wood, Marty.  I can understand the dreaming of using it - great artists get inspiration that way.  We shall have to start calling you Marty "Van Gogh"!

I have some very unique bubinga in the handle of a longbow that me and a good buddy made. Really he made it for me, while I watched.  :D  It has speckles in it, and we thought that was cool. But this... wow!

Wow...that Bubinga looks great. That would look outstanding under glass!!..I just made a R/D bow with bubinga veneers...worked good for me. I hope you post some pics of it if you make one.

That is some pretty Bubinga.  I would buy it all if someone offered it to me.

I have made a number of bows with waterfall Babinga, It works great in a riser and if you go with a thin veneer it works fine in the limb. Go slow on the grinding though,it can darken up very easy. It looks like a burn but can be avoided if you do not take to big a bite.

I took the plunge today.  $173 for one board kinda takes my breath away, but I had to do it.  Seems that just posting the photo got me an order.  I'm gonna need your help Kenny!

Buginga finishes beautifully. Not a strong wood. Will also burn if your saw blades are dull. It's worth using with your finest sandpaper, or better yet a cabinet scraper. Woods like this are why I'm trying to find a good non-yellowing finish that doesn't require a spray booth.  Can't wait to see what you do with it.

It's the strongest stuff I've found for risers!  What are you comparing it to woodenwonder?

Apex, What did it cost by the board foot?  I bought some in Spokane last weekend and am wondering if I got a good deal.  They had some burled bubinga that made my figured bubinga look down right ugly, but we thought it would be nearly impossible to make lams that stayed together from the piece.  The burled piece was 2"x18"x12' and would make a great loooking bar top.  Oh ya, they were willing to cut a 3' piece off if I wanted.

Apex, your right, I checked a piece of bubinga when I got home. It is a hard wood. Must have been thinking of some other wood.
