Anyone ever tried basswood for lams? Its very lightweight,(which I understand is a desireable property for limb design), very uniform and inexpensive. It is pretty soft however. We used to make beehives from it and have a few boards around.   Thanks,  John

from my working in sawmills for years bass wood is easy to carve and is also verylightweight but it is very brittle for bending and such exept when wet it is most often used to carve decoys and carousel horses. I don't think it would be very good for density either  very pourus and can be dented easy.. IMO not for bowmaking
K.I.S.S. keep it simple stupid<<<
LOL no really a tuff learnin curve
