I'm not sure what waffer board is, but any type of plywood works well.  You want to use something that is stable and not likely to warp.

Waffer board, chip board, bland X when I worked in a lumberyard most would call it waffer board.
Have you ever used chip board.thanks buckeye

Chipboard will work...but it will not be as durable as a veneer laminated plywood (i.e. it will not hold up to moisture, dings, etc).

Last sheet of plywood (B-C) i go for a form was about $11, chipboard was $6....but if you want to make a longer lasting chipboard mold try sealing it really good with poly or something.

have any of you ever thought of using engineered lumber for a press like a lvl(laminated veneer lumber) it is a full 13/4". you dont have to use different peices to acheive thickness its already glued and no usage of screws

Saw some pix of a neat one made with light framing and blue foam insulation... very light and cheap compared to the heavy plywood bomb shelter I built.

broketooth,
LVL works fine, I have been using it for several years. Both my recurves and longbows are 1 1/2", I wish they made it in 1 1/2" instead of 1 3/4".
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
