I was able to hear him give a talk on hunting BIG BIG bears in the north just about a year ago.

A buddy and I bowhunted MT years ago, I wrote to Scott for some information. Did'nt know him, just that he was from MT. He sent me a very detailed and helpful letter which I still have. I could tell he was one of the good guys.

Although I didn't know him at the time, I met Scott in Whitehorse, YK about ten years ago. Grub Mathews and I were heading into northern British Columbia to hunt moose; so were Scott and his son. We were all staying at a well known inn, and Scott bought me the finest prime rib I've ever eaten. I recall being interested in how he described his hunting...it was easy to tell the man was not there for his ego. He was determined to help his son kill a good bull, and that's exactly what happened.

I believe I recall hearing some stories about Scott turning down some pretty significant opportunities to play basketball. I will say this: A 6'-9" masonry contactor who shoots a recurve makes for one macho-looking dude.
