Here's a bowie blade I am working on......one of the first 3 pattern welded blades I made. low layer count. This is 7 layers 1084 and 15n20, twisted......looks like a whole tribe of bigfeet dancing down the blade(at least if you are insane like me it looks like that)thus the name. Length is just over 9 inches from tip to where the guard will be.
Also in the pic is the handle block that it will wear. Birch burl that I harvested and had professionally stabilized. It is some very pretty stuff. The tree the burl was on had been cut down and left during the logging, so I rescued it from rotting away on the ground.     Here's a pic.

 


Hope to have this one done in the next week or so.

I hammered out three new similar billets this weekend.  Felt good to be back in the shop.
