Don't get much shop time in the summer around here but I did get this little chopper done yesterday evening.

My youngest daughter who lives in AK made a special request for her birthday this year. Her better half has to travel a lot for work and she wanted something she could keep handy that might make her feel a little more secure when he was gone. I suggested the pistol or shotgun she already has should put the fear in anybody looking down the barrel with a mad blond behind it but she said she wanted something sharp from Dad...  What can I say, I tried to raise her right.  ;)   Anyway I certainly hope it will see more use as a camp chopper than anything else. It'll be going in the mail in the next couple days after I get a sheath made.

Actually forged it from an old ball peen hammer like I've done a couple times before. Sharp as a razor and the twisted spike turned out kinda nifty. Did a little work with brass tacks and buckskin on the hickory handle too.

Thanks and enjoy...

Looks like you may have accidentally torqued the spike a little.  Other than that.....

Love the brass tacks.  Outstanding job all the way around.

COOL!  Agree on the twisted spike!  Now, all she needs to do is to learn how to use it properly ('course being your daughter, I am sure that she knows how to handle sharp implements    ;)    :p    !!

I am liking that a lot- I know that twisted spike has to be last resort grizzer bear protection- give him your lower leg to gnaw on and whumpr him right down thru the topknot! :-)
