A wallet type sheath is what I use. I should have a few made in a week or two. 2 in 1095 and 2 in damascus. These continue to be very functional on the trapline.

Did you skin that big cat with one?

Looks like it would make clean skinning a big ol beaver pretty easy! Well easier, lol! Nice work guys.

Found the thread Charles. Really cool. AS fine as they are as is, that back edge tip wouldnt hurt to be sharpened. It would have all of the utility as a lithic version.  

I considered having the concave back edge sharp @ 3/4" and might try it yet. It would make a dandy shaft scraper and might work as a kind of gut hook as well.

Is Ben making these to sell yet? i have been keeping my eye on this thread for a while now.

I threw this on the bear skinning table some years back and had a couple of guys that really liked it.  I may need to re-visit some of these designs.  Thanks for reminding me about some cool alternatives...tippit.

 

 

That is awesome tippit.  I would prefer to have a little curve to the edge for skinning, but that's just my personal preference.  I would like the straight edge for other chores though and it would be easier to build.  Very nice either way.

That is a sweet little tool tippit. The finger loop handle is very handy. In my uses this type of tool benefits from a proper wrist lanyard doubled around the wrist. This allows the tool to be let go of to pull hide or what have you then the tool gripped instantly without having to lay it down or sheath it.

Sometimes simplistic translates to elegant.
