Sorry Karl,  guess I should of read your entire post before writing mine... It is a really interesting post to and as a french canadian, I really appreciate it! Thank you for sharing!!

Cheers

I have no idea what you should call it...........but in my opinion that is pretty much the ideal bowie for using. About an inch and a half longer in the blade than I usually carry, but awesome. On second thought..........how about "Candy" cause that knife is just so sweet.  :D

By the way, the restaurant/bar in L'Erable where I've had many a ribeye is named the "Longbranch".

Man, not only is the knife beautiful, but so is that forge and the building it's housed in.  I so wish I could sit and watch you and many others on here work for a day.  You definitely have earned that MS stamp!

As for names, the only one that comes to mind (facetiously, that is), is "Mine."   :)  I definitely wish that's what I could call it!  Beautiful work as always, Lin.

I think it should be called "Friend"......

I like Ron's idea too... but why don't ya just call it your "little buddy"!  Every time you need it all you have to do is go get your "little buddy" and get the job done right!  Your "little buddy" will always be there for you and work hard for you...
AND...if he ever gets out of line you can just smack him around a bit and straighten him out!!!

What about "The Talon". It's curved like a bird of prey talon.

I'm hoping to spend a little time spring trying my hand at a take down longbow.  I thought this would be a good name for a bow, but it would fit that knife nicely too.

Tim those are awesome pictures. I actually see the resemblance between the bear and knife. Dont ask me why. But I see it. "Grizz" perhaps?

Yeah Lin I see it too.  Some angle and points at one end, a shoulder, then a bit of curve towards the back.  Color kindof fits too.  I think you could draw a similar profile comparison from the hind track picture also.

I like brown bear better than griz, but thats just me.  Brown bears are a bit closer to being overwhelming, kindof like your knife here.  Hard to explain.

Awesome knife by the way. wow.  Maybe my favorite of yours.

I think because it will serve you  for a long time and it is strong and true. Due to the timing of your post you should callit the
"Vet" for the veterans
I also like and see the Gryzz
And yes the word l'erable means the sugar maple tree
Let us know what you decided to call it
