Here in Boston, we were lucky being on the northern edge of Sandy.  High winds, power outage for twelve hour, rain, flooding but nothing like what Sandy did to New York & New Jersey.  With everything battened down, I actually forged for a good part of the day til the winds really picked up later in the day.

I thought it was appropriate to come up with something different since I've never forged through a hurricane...a water proof blade!

Eye of the Hurricane blade with a rubber horse stall mat handle.  I worked the rubber down with an aggressive 36 grit belt & finished with a 50 grit belt.  It really has a nice textured feel.  I was supposed to being flying to hunt whitetails with Whip today in Kansas...flight canceled out of Boston.  Hopefully the Eye & I will make it out tomorrow...tippit

What is the steel? Look good!

The steel is 1084.  I've seen some of the cutting competition knives that had handles of rubber horse stall mat just for the grip.  The grinder wants grab the rubber so you need to hang on tight  when shaping!

I really, really, like this one! The lines are just right, and it looks oh so comfy in the hand.
Sometimes simple is the most beautiful!

I think thats cool ,so much so I would like to have that knife.Do you think you could throw it out over Mo.( on your way to Kansas) ?If I find it ,that would really be neat ,just think of the story???    :eek:

By the way if you throw it out about ,lets say 50 miles outside St Louis ,the wind and gravity should about make my County. (Ralls)

I like that - did you attach the handle scales with epoxy??  How does it take to the epoxy?  

Just curious because I can see some real practicality in that type of scale.  Very cool
