After working for the Blade Show heavy for a few weeks, it's nice to build something that doesn't require me to think! That's an auto-hamon on W1. No clay. Just using heat to create the differential hardening.

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Karl, that's just flat out impressive  :notworthy:  .  I remember when I heard the first time that someone only used heat to achieve a hamon (without clay) and I had to stretch my little brain out a bit to figure how that'd work.  Great job.  By the way, what wood is that?

yes Karl, What kind of wood is that? It reminds me of some old cowboys saddled winchester. I like it when you don't have to think lol awesome job as always.

Really nice as usual.

I believe I saw this knife at Comptons at a well known leather purveyor's table!   ;)

Bill, I just this minute walked back in the house from Compton's! I didn't see you there.
I was with Dave Stinson (HuntIt) and Mel Riley (Irish) down in the camp ground for two days.
It would have been fun to shoot a round with you.

Real nice.  That's a man's knife there.

That knife is gonna cut up elk this year! I drew my limited quata elk tag and I am estatic to say the least. I could not believe it when Karl handed me that knive he forged it for a demo for me on Monday and handed it to me at Comptons on Friday. I did not expect it. It sure drew some attention. I let people know it was not for sale! Thanks Karl
