For a while I've been thinking of getting a folder as an "EDC-knife" Trouble is there are a lot of folder kits out there, and I know nothing about them.

So which folder-lock mechanism should I opt for, and why?

Which steel is good in a folder, and which is not good?

Also, do you guys know anyone besides Jantz and Texasknife that sells decent+ kits?

Knifelaws here in Norway are strict, so I'll most likely need a blade shorter than 2,5". Will mostly be used for mundane cutting tasks like rope, thin wood, plastic, paper, cordage, cardboard etc..

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I appreciate it!  :)

Sevin, the liner lock is probabaly one of the easier ones to put together. The others are mostly under presure in some form or another, but the linerlocks are not.
try and get a kit with the fewest pieces (it will be easier)
As far as the steel ,whatever you think would be good for a hunting knife will be good for a folder, just depends on how well you take care of a knife.(meaning if you don't take care of it,The knife will rust, therefore you would need some type of stainless)
Hope this helps Good Luck
