I would like that very much RickD. I won't be able to do it for a little while, low on funds, but I will take u up on that soon. I would love to do a knive with elk. The whitetail I have is not real thick, but it holds nice. I looked on Chad's site, there are a lot of really cool ideas on the customer creations page. How do u finish yours anyway, do u use a stain? Also, what do u glue the blade in with, epoxy?

I visited Chad last week and had a wonderful visit. Bought a couple knives and darn near fillet myself on the drive home. Different perspective on sushi.  I am inspired by this thread. Some unbelievable talent here. If you need more elk horn PM me and I'll send you some. Iam learning right along with you. Mike

Ok, I'm blaming you guys for this. After reading this far, I got it into my head that I needed to build a knife. So I went to Chad's site and ordered me the Harding kit. If this turns out ok, I will build another one using some really nice red deer antler that I have.

Some really fine knives on here. Most any horn makes a good handle, sheep horn is special. Fine work Tippet.

My first knife.  The hafting and handle are mine, the blade was hired out.

This kind of edge works much easier than any steel I've ever used for skinning a deer.  No nicks in hide nor meat.  It cuts a lot of hair while putting the slits in the skin, so its best to skin after using steel for that.

Thanks fellas.  I call it my Mammoth skinner.  Handle antler is from Steve Hohensee's fork-horned eastern Canada moose.  Hafting is selfbow-kilt deerhide. Its been waiting for a blade since the first (or was it second?) MOJam.

I think its a lucky charm, too. Its been hunting with me (and another hunter) three times in the last 3 weeks, and there's been a buck to skin at the end of each day. :-)

Here is one that my Father in Law brought me back from Alaska. It was handmade out of a sawmill blade, and elk antler. The sheath was also handmade with a bear claw and tooth added for character.

This knife is the first antler knife I put together. The antler used is from my 8yr old sons first shed he found.  He found it during his first turkey hunting trip.   We were able to use this knife this past deer season to field dress his first whitetail deer.     The bow in the picture is a bear kodiak 48.  We just got this for him.   Hunter3r put the skineez on it.  
 

This antler handled knife, was made by the legendary Northwoods deer tracker- Larry Benoit. It's one of my collectible favorites.
