A good friend of mine was nice enough to name a knife I made maybe five years ago as the "Chairman". It seemed to remind him of a cross between a Chute and an Airman.
Apparently, I have a customer who liked it as well.
He wanted a hunting knife with a hi-lo guard and settled on the Chairman that he found in my archives.
So we have the latest rendition here in W2, stainless take-down fittings, a crested spine, and stabilized and dyed Curly Maple.
I hope to see this thing get some use the Fall.

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Lovely work on the spine...a real touch of class.  :)
"Walk softly...and carry a bent stick."

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God the Father through him."  Col. 3:17

DANA HOLMAN

Looks good Karl, I can see why he picked it and I like the way you did the front of the guard, ( soft rolling shoulders) keep'm coming
Dana
"When Satan is knocking at your door,
Simply say,

"Jesus, could you get that for me?"

I like the name, not as much as the knife.  The spine does look great and once again great hammon.

Good stuff, as always.  You mention this is a take-down.  Do you have an inset screw in the pommel?

Please allow me to re-issue the Chairman just completed.
I was happy with neither the Hamon nor the previous photo.
I needed to mix a new batch of etchant and also wait until I had a little sunshine to show off this extraordinary piece of maple.
The chatoyance in the material makes it literally look like velvet. In person, it seems as if you might be able to stick your finger down INTO the maple.
It is really fantastic.

I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Those pins go .200" into the back of the guard and .425" into the face of the handle on either side of the tang.

She is fine. Ill have to borrow her when she gets to NY. I might not give it back if she performs half as good as she looks.
