Seems like every time I get in the same room with Joe Keeslar I get this "infection" and need to come back home and make a Brut de Forge.
It's a disease.
So, I came up with the "Samurai Hunter"!
A traditional wrapped handle with ray skin under-lay, but with a clipped hunter profile on a 1095 blade with a hamon.
With a mirror polished spine and clip.
And I do believe she's gettin' a Kydex sheath!

That's one of the mystical "secrets" of the Samurai.

I'm not sure how to measure this, but the portion of the blade that can be sharpened is 5 3/4", and she's 10 1/2" overall.

Chuck, I have these little abrasive wheels I use on the drill press, but they don't have a name on them.
They're sort of like wire wheels, but have fiber strands on them instead of wire.
I don't even remember where I got them.
Don't know what I'll do when I wear them out!

Thanks Karl.I really like the wrought look in some of the knives guys post up on here. This one looks mighty fine being all cleaned up.    I love the finger guard.
Does it have a home?

Neat knife, Karl. I always worry about all the gunk that would get trapped in the handle material of a knife like that, but it sure looks neat. Love the Keeslar style.

Allan, three ways of going about it:
1.) Brush the entire handle with a marine epoxy. Then there's not too much to worry about, but I'm not particularly fond of the visual.
2.) That wrap cost $.15/ft. Just re-wrap it.
3.) Don't get it dirty.
