I saw this reciprocating saw blade at Home Depot, and it looked like a potential knife project.  It is only 1/16" thick, but is designed to cut wood and metal up to 1/2" in an electric saw.  A little grinding, some sharpening with a carbide sharpener, a saw cut test, some gun blue and textured tape for a handle is all it took.  It is a relatively sturdy little tool that could cut through sheet metal if called upon.  My plan is to carry it as a backup utility knife in the car and in the woods.

I would like to do the same with a thicker blade, 1/8" or thicker for a more versatile version.

Good job on that,I think it would be a nice one to put in the tackle box also!!

Thanks for the comments.  It is a small, thin, light little tool that can go nearly anywhere.

One thing I almost did was to leave the red paint on instead of stripping it and applying gun blue.  It does the same job that way, but adds the benefit of high visibility.  The paint is very durable.

It could also be sized a little smaller and shaped into a neck knife.
