Great Smokey Mountain Blade Symposium is in two weeks and finally the weather broke enough to to get the forge fired up.  It's been a tough winter in the Northeast.  Snow falls already hit record depths and been too cold to pound steel in my un-heated garage.

With the three day February thaw, I made a camp blade to try my hand in the cutting competition at the symposium.  This will be a first for me

The rules are:

1) Knife can't be more than 15 inches long.

2) Blade can't be more than 10 inches long.

3) Safety lanyard attached to blade & hand.

Here is my entry.  Now I need some coaching...maybe Lin or others can chime in with any tricks to the technique    tippit

Forged from 3/8 X 1 1/2 inch 5160 bar stock, 13 1/2 inches OAL, and 8 1/2 inch blade.

Jeff, That is one good lookin cutter!

I saw Ray Kirk win at Batson's a few years back with a 8 1/2 inch blade so it can be done. I sure hope I can get there to join the fun. Not sure yet, but you better believe I'll help all I can either way. Lin
