I'm thinking of buying an electrochemical etcher and was wondering what your thoughts were versus a stamp for makers mark. Also has anyone had experience with the Etch-o-matic?? Thanks Skippy

I have an Etch-O-Matic that I picked up for $20 NIB. Haven't had a chance to try it yet. I plan on doing my blade marks this way...hopefully!

I've been very pleased with mine. I do leave the light on just a little longer than mentioned and it works great for me.

I leave mine on for 20 three second intervals on the etch and 20 three second etch on the black.It gets pretty deep.polish with 1500 grit

I got mine of fleeb** for 50.. you just have to watch. I got about 100 of the pieces to make my own stencils, two of the light things, one large and one small....lots of chemicals. Great deal.

Here  are plans to build you own etcher.  I have built this one and it works very well and was a fun build.   Ernie Grospitch  makes great stencils that are reasonably priced.

I agree with madness, I built my own and am very happy with it. This is assuming that you are not technically challenged. It is not a real hard project to complete. I am also using Ernie's stencils. I find that I get a better etch than with the "typewtiter stencil roll". It is a much cleaner mark.
