Yea, it could only happen to me.

Since I cant seem to hang on to one of my own knives, I carry one made by a fellow bladesmith, Ray Kirk. My reasoning is that I will sell one that I made, but would never sell someone elses.  :D  Thus I will always have a knife. Anyway, I have a lot of confidence in Ray's knives and use it every day.

This past week I was working on a house in Little Rock and must have dropped the knife from the sheath in the neighbors drive. I still cant figure that one out. I walked over to their driveway to get a better look at our handywork and kicked something on the ground and there was my knife. It had been run over by the lady very recently. I looked it over good and all it did was scar it up a little. The handle material was still holding up great and it barely put a nick in the cutting edge, which will sharpen out, I'm sure.

The handle is Buckeye burl that has been stabilized, so I guess that's explain the white coloring of the scratches. The drive way was Washed Aggregate and pretty rough, so I'm really impressed with the strength of this little knife.

I bet you know someone who can fix that handle if the scratches aren't too deep!
That blade has a nice patina.
