Thaks Guys. Hey jeffie ya like a timberwolf claw in your handle? I gots one off the auction site. When I do your handle I can inlay it and cover coat it so those pisky snopers don;t keep it.<><

Frank, Hey you are now a blacksmith/bladesmith     Very Nice!  You can pound it more to get the flare really coming out.  I've also found that you can use a finished blank blade where you have ground out the circular finger guard.  Then lay the back of the blade on your anvil, holding it with your tongs, and you can flair the entire rounded guard.  You get a lot less distortion in the blade so it it is easier to straighten out with subsequent heats.  If you want pictures let me know...Doc

Awesome Sticshooter, I have been playing with some saw mill blades they are a 1\\8 thick. I have a question as to how you do your heat treat with the saw mill blades????

Heat them until they become no stckiy to magnet. dip in veggie oil heated to 75-100 and bake in oven for 1 hour at 400.<><
