Jon,  Your Pigskin Hunter just jumped out at me. It is so simple & eloquent at the same time.  Hope you don't mind but I had to try and forge a bird/trout version for myself....6 3/4" oal.  Pretty rough compared to your work but the lines and feel are super.  Thanks for the inspiration     :notworthy:      :notworthy:   tippit

Good job !!!
What scales are you going to use Jeff???  :clapper:

Kevin, I put a stitched leather grip on it like the one on Jon's web site.  Looks cool but the same problems as with paracord...gets dirty, wet, and smelly with use.  May just leave without scales or cause it is so simple in design as a little working knife, may use rubber horse stall matt...Doc

Ooooooh hello.  ;)   :D

That's beautiful Doc. Looks about perfect to my eyes. It would look nice (to me anyway!) with a light coloured scale, ivory paper micarta would suit it down to the ground!

Tippet/Doc?,
Looks good. I dip my pigskin handles and working sheaths in a Beeswax/neetsfoot oil mixture. It penetrates well, won't soak up water and it smells good.
Keep up the good work!!!

Jon,  Thanks for the tip on the Beeswax.  Wonder if that would work on paracord too?  tippit or Doc

Not sure how it would work on paracord.

The beeswax/neetsfoot oil is applied hot, about 140 deg. Dip the handle into it and let it set until the bubbles stop. Then take it out and wipe off the excess. It last a long time if taken care of and can be reapplied later if needed.

Also, if your knife gets rust under the skin just pop the stitching, clean it up and restitch.

Here's a link I found for making a kydex sheath. It's pretty helpful.   youtube tutorial
