I have an old mill bastard file that is dull.  I've used it for a few years and recently replaced it. I about threw it away and then thought maybe it could be made into a knife. . . (the fever of this forum is taking over the world    :D   )

Are older files (not sure   how  old it is) good for blades?  And if so would someone be willing to help me?  I don't have the time, money nor need for a new hobby.

Heck if the price is wrong, I would be happy to mail to someone who could use it, instead of trashing it...

John, here's a pic of a knife I made from a file for my nephew down in Fla., I cut it out with a dremel tool and shaped it with my 4x24 sander turned upside down, if you do a slow enough cut without getting the edges blue you won't have to anneal it.    Good luck, BTW I like your quote, more people should follow it.

What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

Remember Terry's Rules:

NO sales commerce of any kind.

John you can ask for help but not help in purchasing or having a knife made for you.  That is permissible in the knife classifieds though...tippit
