How many use two nocking points and why ?

I just started using 2 today and my arrow flight seemd to improve and this is the only change I made, my nocks fit scary loose !

Got the idea from a friend who brought the subject up during a rabbit hunt.

I use two nock points and have for quite some time now. I like it (I use serving string nock points that I tie on), and it keeps me from accidently sliding my arrow up (or down) my bowstring. However, I must confess I am puzzeled by what connection there is to "scary loose nock fit". If you mean, on the string, I wouldn't like that and would fix it in a hurry (either with smaller nock grooves or extra serving on string in the nocking area) - unless I am not understanding what you mean by that. Just my opinion. I don't want the nock too tight to come off rather easily, but I definitely don't want it loose on the string. If you hold the bow with string towards the floor, and arrow nocked, pointing down - you should have to tap the string with two fingers sharply to make the arrow fall to the floor - regardless of using one, or two, nock points. That's in most folks opinions BTW- pretty standard test, and you may already know of it. If so, forget I said anything -

Even Byron Fergison reccomends 2 nock points. Have used this method for some time and like Burnie, I like it.

I'm a 2 nocker myself.    

I use two tied on nock points, and have for a lot of years, for the same reasons stated above.

How do you guys tie on your nock points.  I have heard this works much better than the brass nocks and I have heard a lot of guys do it with dental floss.  How do you guys tie yours on and what do you use to do it with.

Dental floss is fine too (unwaxed), I just like the two tone Braided serving string, from BCY, for looks and gripping qualities while you are tieing it. It (for my way) is a simple series of overhand knots on all four "sides" of the string and I usually go around about twice (some folks do more, some less. Then you can burn the ends (if your hands are steady - carefully) to secure the last knots, or, as I have started doing lately, use super glue. After it dries you can still usually thread (screw) the nock points up or down for minor adjustment. I'm not sure but what there is also a "How To" thread on it in the archives, come to think of it. Go to "forum home" (click at top of page), and scroll down for the "How To" forum - or something close to that - ha-ha - it's a memory thing.

I use the Bohning T-Nock so they can be loose but still stay on the string just fine do to the raised points inside the throat. Some say the nock will slide down the string as you release.

I like the 2 nock system and plan on sticking with it, put the bow thru a long day of stump shooting and all worked fine.

"Scary Loose" may have been a bad use of words ? Looser then most I've seen but not so loose they present a hazard.

You can adapt parts of the method to a couple of different ways of making a nocking point.

For instance... I never tie off my nocking points anymore. I just fix them in place with thin super glue and they stay that way.
Makes a nice smooth nocking point that way.

I shoot 3 under with two nock points brass on top and floss on bottom

I use 2 nock points also, tied on. Years ago I seen a video by Easton Arrows that showed arrows nocked under one nock point sometimes slide down the string when released. That made a believer out of me.

For those of Us Out Here in CyberSpace, I havent quite got the "Hang" on tying My Nock Points, so they dont look like a BirdsNest, or a Fishing Line Backlash.  WHY  does Almost Every  HATE  the Brass Nock Points?

On my Centaur I  thought it was being VERY sensitive because I couldn't get an arrow to shoot that wasn't "porpoising" up and down on release. I moved the nock way up, then way down. Then tried every spine and length of arrow I could and just couldn't get it to stop....

Then as soon as I tied the lower nock on, it stopped!! Now I can shoot just about any arrow I have and get pretty good flight (if I do everything right with my form and release    :rolleyes:  , which isnt very often)...

With 2 nocking points how much space do you people leave as wiggle room between nocks and arrow?Do you leave 1/4 inch below bottom of arrow?Or is it a fiddly thing where every application is different?

I keep mine snug to the arrow nock. Not tight but snug.

I use 2 knock points for a couple of reasons.
1) That's how my Father and Uncle taught me. Seems to be a TRADITON in our Family.
2) This may answer Shakes question, The Brass ones hurt my fingers after a while.
