The weather has been horrible the last week or so putting a damper on the bear hunting, but I did get my ladder stand moved a couple days ago and sat in it last night...

This doe couldn't believe her eyes...LOL I had the stand tied on my pack...She obviously couldn't figure out what kind of strange creatue was walking by..

All set up in the new spot...I have more confidence in this spot...It is in a saddle and the wind direction is much more stable..

That is my new to me Kodiak that I just got from a fellow Tradganger...Shes a beauty...

Nothing came by last night...I don't stay untill full dark...I don't really want to shoot that late on a work night...About a half hour before dark I climbed down...

Just getting to the truck and what do I see...A bear...

Apparently it was walking the road, came upon the truck, looked at it a minute and turned and walked back the way it came...The truck is parked in the wide spot to the right just out of the pic... I lightend up the pic quite a bit..It was to dark to shoot...

We had a lot of rain on Friday and the river came up alot and the weather cooled off.  My daughter Brier and I headed down to the river hoping to find a nice carp or maybe even a buffalo to eat, but the only fish working the shallows were gar.  We had a good time and even managed to get an arrow in a couple.  Here's a picture of my best girl and the morning's catch.

Nothing better than Daddy/daughter time, congrats on the gar too!

Have not figured out how to add pics yet but have no fear for they are coming.  Waiting for 5/26 DNREC meeting to confirm Delaware's first turkey by stickbow.  Taken at twenty paces with a 61# PMA and a Razorcap.  Believe it or not it was my first attempt.  I'm not a softie, but couldn't help getting a little choked up.  All of my compound toting friends were thinking I was crazy.  They all hunted with shotguns with no luck.  Now I'm the man.

Well I missed ...  :banghead:

The bear is not as far as it appears in the picture...It was the steep uphill shot that got me...I misjudged and shot just underneath her...

A guy has a lot of time to think while the arrow is in flight...You marvel at the nock spinning away with nary a wobble..You know that the release was good..

The next thing you think about is the line running true...Wow looks good!!You start thinking about the tracking job, bloodtrails, and the pack..

Now the arrow is almost there and you start getting excited...Looks to be a perfect shot...This s when you start thinking about hero shots..Then what kind of sausage you are going to have made...Pepperoni??? You bet!!!

The excitement gets to be a fever pitch...You think I have done it,my first bear with trad equipment...You want to call your buddies on the phone...Then,at the last possible second and only inches from the bear, the arrow dramaticly takes a nose dive and the bottom drops off...

You shoot only inches underneath her...Your jaw hits the ground about the same time as the arrow...

Yip, a lot of time to think while a arrow is in flight...
