Denny, the chital is impressive.  I've heard they are one of the wariest deer out there.  And of course the buff are always impressive.

When Rik mentioned Brad's shore lunches, I pulled up a couple of pics from one of last years shore lunches.  This is Brad and the start of lunch.

And the elaborate cooking utensils.

We ate the fish off of a piece of bark.

BTW, about the picture of Brad, Don and you.  It appears you and Don would fit right in with the local Snake Bay residents.
So don't wait until you retire to go hunting and fishing.  Don't even wait for your annual vacation.  Go at every opportunity.  Things that appear urgent at the moment may, in the long run, turn out to be far less so.

If you've clicked on the links Denny provided above, you probably thought you were just seeing an Axis deer, no different from what you could hunt on a ranch in Texas. Piece of cake, right?  Wrong.

For those of you who have not yet hunted Chital in wild Australia: they are just a little bit harder to stalk and kill with a bow than Pronghorn. Maybe a little more than just a little bit. . .

To kill both Chital and Big buff on the same hunt, well, that's just about as good as it gets.

Rik, I was very lucky on the chital. Lucky Cashy spotted it and lucky the wind was gusting while rain poured down.

Mark, Brad looks like croc bait squating next to the water. LOL

Congrats Denny, looks like you guys had a great trip. I was talking with your dad at Compton, he mentioned one of the guys with you was trying for buff with a very light bow. How did that go?

Smitty was within 3 yards of a big bull and decided not to try after seeing the size and toughness of the buffs.

Wow....what a hunt!!! That's what it's all about, Denny. Good for you, man.      :campfire:

Hope to make a hunt for pigs and Chital down under in the next few years. I don't shoot enough horsepower for buff though

I used 770 grain Beman MFX shafts with Wensel Woodsmans for the chital and Zwickey prototype heads for the buffs.

Good to see you had fun here . Its a pity we dont see more of us using the stick and string to take these great beasts .
