Waiting for the "will a 30# bow kill a deer" thread.  What a great thing to come home to.  Looks like you have a great boy.

Fantastic!    :scared:  and that buck looks like he's not been hurting for food either.

You have a fine looking bunch of kids.  :smileystooges:    :biglaugh:

Flat out remarkable! Congrats to the young man and whole family that produced this over achieving hunter and bowyer and blind builder!

Congratulations!  My guess is his feet won't hit the ground for a week or two.
Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes....

I'm impressed,
Congratulations Zach, good job Ken. I see the future in good hands

To me the amazing part isn't the shot, it is the way he handled himself afterwards without any adult help.  Most kids would have waited for dad to come home, gut it and take it from there.  Congrats on an awesome job of raising a son!!

Way to go!

I love the "Built the bow and made the blind and cleaned the deer himself", part!  He is way ahead of alot of adults that I know.

Zach's a bit bashful today...he'll pass on his story, but his Mom has read the responses to him and he's appreciative of your encouragement (once again).   :)

A bit more detail has surfaced.  Looks like he only had one arrow at the time.  Shot the other three at squirrels and was debating on taking out a groundhog when the 6 pointer appeared.  He waited twenty minutes or so after the shot, ran out and grabbed an arrow to creep up on the deer with.

Glad Mom got the video camera out....was really neat to see his excitement afterwards since I wasn't here.

This is a pic of his blind:

BTW:  Zach meets the min. requirement of our State with his bow.  Guess they know it'll work just fine if put in the right spot (hey...this 'un didn't have spots either).  :)

Awesome job Zach.  My son unfortunately had a grade 6 gym teacher who preached to my son one day that it is wrong to hunt animals.  Needless to say my son is now a "treehugger" and that teacher is no longer working.  Hopefully my daughter will follow in my footsteps.
A bad day of hunting is still far better than a good day at work.
