Well this was cool! Picked my son up from the sitter after work and thought we would hit the woods. We walked to a ladder stand I have up and went to setup under it (he don't like heights)but today he says he wont's to climb the stand, know at this point the day was a success  as he overcame his fear of the ladder, so we get settled in (and strapped in ALWAYS)about an hour passes by and in walks a doe and stops broadside at 22yards and the Woodsmans laid the smack down it run about 30yards and crashed, now at this point my son is freaking out and is ready to jump out of the stand and hit the ground running, about the time I finish telling we have to wait the deer gets up staggers about 20 more yards and is out for good. Know I knew where the deer was but thought this was a good time to do some tracking so we found the arrow found the trail and off he go's It only took him about 10 mins. to find her (lots of blood) after the drag to the house my son says,"daddy I wont to hunt every day" and that could have been the best part of the day!

That is very, very cool.  I too took my 5yr old son out tonight but we did not see any deer. The day I can take one with him along will be the highlight of my hunting career.  Congrats to you and your hunting buddy.

Congats on the deer and glad you are starting   yor son in the woods early.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!
