Blacktail Bow & Blacktail Buck

'Nother great buck, Ron.  

I've seen more dark horns on bigger bucks than smaller ones.  Don't know why that is, but it seems like most of the bigger blacktails I've seen have dark horns and the ones I shoot are all lighter colored...  :rolleyes:

You know Stan, you might be correct about the older bucks having the dark antlers! Here's a real DARK antlered buck I got the trailcam Tuesday evening right after I killed my buck down the road. I barely got in there this morning, nearly 16 inches of heavy snow on the road! Brought the camera home.


Santiam...I always seem to wait until you bag a buck and then kill one slightly larger, but this year you had the advantage of seeing what I had first, what happened?   :D    :saywhat:

Dang those are all MONSTER blacktails!! The Blackies we have down here in the central and southern California areas are sickly looking compared  yours..LOL! They must be ruttin hard, cause those necks are all swollen like they are are on steroids!! man I gotta head out to Oregon and try and get one of those magnificent beasts! man I'm jealous!

Hey Ron,

I just got back from blacktail country to see how us geezers were doing against the whippersnappers....

They had my buck at 9 points and yours at 7...

Thats a beutiful animal for sure.  Congrats on a fine kill.  They sure are handsome, the deer that is.   ;)
