Well Rusty came by earlier and dropped his stuff and Bonnie just dropped James off with a pile in the driveway.  We got it in the trailer and are quivering like a dog passing a peach pit in anticipation.

It's going to be a long time to 0400.

I thought I would NEVER get James out of the house.  Now that he is gone for three weeks, I can finally clean up.  Maybe I can find some good things to sell while he is gone.    "[tunglaff]"

If nothing else, I can at least have the remote control for a few days.  And maybe some elk meat when he comes home.

Best of luck with the elk.

i heard from the boyz today.  It is snowing in elk camp.  Jason got a mule deer (no detials).  the boyz been whacking the grouse (7 so far).  Wingnut says it is a good grouse year in our area.

they had James on a growd cow elk, up close and personal.  One more step and it was a done deal...but she wouldn't budge.  reminds me of the girls I date  :) .  Wingnut says that at the end of the deal James still had his arrow on the bow and it was shaking like a sushi chelf's knife.  If ya think a big ole cow elk up close and personal want give ya an adernalin dump...ya just ain't been there  :)

I got Bodark (my jeep) gassed up and ready for a 7AM lift off....

rusty: - fort worth control tower this is xray xray niner niner experimental requesting take off instructions.

Control tower: - Xray xray niner niner experimental.....dang boy ya gonna need a long runway...ya better use 287west....Hey Charly some yahoo is gonna try to take off in a jeep.

Don't laugh Jerry he was air born by Witchita Falls last yr...that ain't bad for a jeep  :)

Have a safe trip Rusty! I'm sure Bear's spirit is hangin' his head out the passenger side, waggin' that stub of a tail.

Hope Rustic brought BOTH pair of long underwear.  Yesterday when I headed up the hill, the snow was ankle deep and it was 24 degrees.  And the elk stayed on the south slopes all day.  We also went through a LOT of firewood the last couple of days.
So don't wait until you retire to go hunting and fishing.  Don't even wait for your annual vacation.  Go at every opportunity.  Things that appear urgent at the moment may, in the long run, turn out to be far less so.

Iffin Rusty could drop about 3/4 flaps, change pitch on his fan blades and hit 4th gear about Decatur with full manifold pressure, he could prolly get off the ground about Bowie. Air born before then and he'd have to get clearance from D/FW Regional Control. That would require him to have an encoding altimiter. That was not one of the factory options on a Jeep.......so it looks like Wichita Falls again this year.

You would think that in this Day and Age there would be someplace that there was CELL SERVICE  :bigsmyl:

James Young

The guys called in Saturday.  Rusty made the trip OK and all is well.   James said they have been having lots of fun, but it is cold there.

They don't have cell coverage unless they have to go into town for something, so not much communication.

James got a mule deer and Jason got a mule deer.  Several grouse bit the dust and lots of close encounters of the elk kind, but none resulting in closure.  Rusty did say he had a close encounter of the romantic nature with a big bull Elk, bu I think the elk decided he was better off not touching that.  So he wandered off.

Sounds like they are having a great time, lots of hunting going on and relaxing for all. Will let you know if I hear from them again.
