One thing I've learned about rabbit hunting, you see a rabbit, you shoot.  If you wait for a clear shot, you'll be waiting a long time.

I actually thought I hit the rabbit on the first shot.  The second one deflected big time, but still hit the tree he was sitting in.  I think I may have said a bad word after that one.  Third shot got through, but was high.  The arrow dropped and sat on the rabbit's head.  That's when I said, "I think it's dead", but I still moved to a better shooting position to make sure.  Fourth shot scewered him and sent him off running.  Not dead yet, but it didn't get too far before I put him in the bag.

I returned from the hunt Sunday with an empty quiver, my last arrow lost from the road on Shawn's last push.  All told, with the steel, the rabbit launcher, and the actual hunting, I think I'm down a dozen arrows.  A cheap price to pay for so much fun.

I saw Keith's empty quiver a lot of fun was had to get it down that far. Joe and I are living for next year, and guess what now after all the pics and stories my 15 soon to be 16 year old daughter wants to pick up a longbow and learn to shoot. She wants to come next year, i plan on going to some 3D shoots this year so the whole clan will be ready for the 2008 JLMBH OOOOOOOOOHHHHHH  YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Speaking of OOOOOOHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHH no one does it like Shawn when he gets wound up good   :scared:

The last bunny on the last drive, not the oneby the rd as we were leavein was pretty funny.I stuck my bow into the white bow holder and jumped up on the pile sending the bunny up over the top where shooting began, when Brent hollared he's coming back I made a quick turn to grab my bow but my feet were still tangled in the brush and I ended up planted on my butt LOL now it ain,t exactly a fast process to pull yourself up outta that stuff and a shot was taken and almost connected before I could get back on my feet let alone grab my bow.The bunny took off back the other way for a hole that wasn,t there anymore compliments of Brent stuffin it full of snow LOL so it,s back my way.The drift was only about 4" lower than my arrow as I let fly only to be just behind the bunny and never to see that arrow again.....

OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAA

I,m still in disbelief we got 16 bunnies WOW !!
Shoot straight and have FUN!!

Onto Joe Skipp.  Early on in this thread Joe was seen an awful lot posting about things, mostly about Mike C standing up so we could see him.  He also mentioned in one post how he liked bright colored fletching like pink so he could see and find his arrows.  As many that participate in the hunt know, Joe is a very generous and giving man, and has done a lot over the years for kids and fellow bowhunters.  I thought it would be nice to honor him, so some of us, Brian, Chuck, Ed, Mark, Mike C, Mike R, Scott, Curt, Tom and I got together and made some special arrows for Joe.....arrows that had a decidely pink theme to them.... and inscribed them with- "Team Skipper-Pretty in Pink".  I presented these to Joe just prior to the raffle on Saturday evening, and was followed by Mike C's pinkish presentation to Joe....I'll let Mike continue from here, hopefully with some pictures that I know were taken.

Stoneknife... My son is gonna haunt me for the next two years after seeing your son in all the pictures.  :banghead:
He says he wants to come next year, but I told him since he's eight now, he's gotta be at least ten Like Joe..man is this gonna be hard...
Bad enough he calls me every Weds afternoon when he gets in from school at the office to make sure were going to the indoor range.  Amazing thing his homework seems to always be done ahead of time those days..  :biglaugh:
Gotta love it.  With these kids of all of ours, this hunt could go on for many many years to come.

Kingstaken... as you know our youth is the key to perpetuating all things including this hunt, when we are to old to get off the sofa we can smile knowing the hunt continues with all the great stories to follow. I'm glad your son has taken interest we have to start them Young so we don't loose them to undesirable things.

One funny story for you,Curt and I walk up to a hole under a limb were chuck aka "woodchucker" seen a rabbit go.We both see tracks going under this little limb so Curt gets ready and I start kicking by the hole,The rabbit come out the back side like a submarine under the snow.Neither Curt or me get a shot and just laugh as the rabbit hightails it out of there  "[dntthnk]"
Put some air under it.

By the way has anyone ever seen Shawn and Lance in the same room at the same time?   :saywhat:
