Bill, that sounds like a wonderful bow.  I am considering purchasing a "Wesley Special."  Any chance you could post a picture of your bow?

Overspined and False Cast,

Thanks for the information on Steve Turay's bow.

And False Cast, I read your impressions of NM bows and JET bows with great interest.  Thanks.

Let's Welcome Magnus to our little ownership fraternity.  He'll have to provide the details, of course.

Okay cool. I think I may as well buy the Wesley Special. That's what I shot on Friday and absolutely loved it. Thanks for the input guys and I'll be back on this thread for sure when I get it.

Thanks Rob and Bud!!!! I did some horse trading today and ended up with. Hill Big 5. Osage and something else. It's an older bow I think but I like it. It's 68" 61#@28 but it sure doesn't feel like it.

It shoots pretty good too. I hit the the running lion target 3 times in a row. This was the best hit of the 3.

I got bit bad today at the Great Lakes Longbow Invitational!  Shot alot of bows from both Steve Turay of Northern Mist and Chuck Deshler of Two Tracks.

From Steve I ended up ordering a Shelton.  And from Chuck I ordered an Echo.  Also bought one of his Longwalkers on the spot, she was that sweet!

Most of you are familiar with Steve's work.  But let me also tell you that Chuck's Echo is fantastic!  If you get a chance give it a try.  I shot Chuck's personal Echo with Walnut cores and I was really impressed, just a joy to shoot.  I asked Chuck to build me a copy with an adjusted weight and a slightly dished grip.

Haven't settled on specifics for the Shelton as of yet.  The one I shot today was 66", but I may bump that to 68".  Loved the dished grip once I adjusted to the different feel.  This was the first dished grip I had shot, and it really fit well.  I would have walked away with Steve's Shelton that I shot today, but I just couldn't get past the white glass on the belly.  Gonna go with either brown or green glass.

All in all, a fantastic day!

I took delivery of one bow made by Steve on Friday at GLLI. Northern Mist Classic, brown class with boo and Heritage Walnut. Never owned a brown glass bow but that Heritage Walnut sure changed my mind.

An Echo is my dream bow for certain.   One day my dream will come true.

I need to correct my specs. It's marked 63@28 and bamboo not Osage. Even better.

You did well Matt.  Now, make some time to shoot her every day.....that's what Hill bows require.     :D

Congratulations Matt!

Do not be surprised if you find that this style of traditional archery is all that easy to put down. (not that you'd want to...lol)

Shot a heavier (65-70?) Big 5 yesterday for the first time.  Man, I enjoyed shooting it.  About 12-15# heavier at my draw than my regular I think, I will weigh it and confirm.  I guess all my work on form and back tension is starting to pay off.  For the first time I can really feel those muscles this morning.  Makes me believe I was drawing the heavier weight correctly.  I may have over-done it, but now I would like an even heavier one just to exercise with.
