I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Shaun

Just arrived in the mail today. 20 guesses...

More in a day or so.

Dave Bulla

Hmmm, big birds boot top?

Looks like ostrich leg to me based on some cowboy boots I've seen.  Also looks like a great color match for the bow!

First guess a WINNER! Yep, the hide of an ostrich leg. Photo shows how shinny it is will have to get a matt finish on it to blend, but the color goes with the wraps and such. Will have to do a mock up and see if it works. Thinking a Krewsin glue type fitting rather than stitching.

Storm claim work has me making hay while the sun shines and I want to be able to focus when I work on this. It was a lot easier putting the stave in the mail than working on a finish item on such a work of art. No pressure...

That's gonna look Awesome Shaun..... I can't wait...    Terry

Handle in place, all done but the scribbling. Have to wait for my caligrapher to return from her cruise in the Carabian next week and for the pannel to pick a name for the bow.

Could not bear to cover all of Dave's fine work on the leather rests and overlays, so I kept the handle small and let them peek out.

Was a little worried that this handle material might be too gaudy, but it blended in fine.

Centered the big scales on the belly since there is not much decoration on the shooter side of the bow.

And used small pieces for the arrow strikes.

Hope you like it. I know I'll be bidding!

Man! These bows just get cooler and cooler! The side view of the handle looks like some ancient reptile is waking up to see what's going on.

Wow and double wow!!!

I absolutely love that leather color and pattern.  I like the way you followed the pattern lines on the belly side when you cut the leather to length.  That side view of the shelf really does look like a reptile eye half open like Tom said too.  Pretty cool.

Ya done good Shaun!

Hey didn't someone make some armgurads to go with these bows? Roughcountry maybe. Need to include his name on the bow too.

How come no one reminded me?

Check with Wingnut, when I visited this winter, I think he said he had both sets of leathers for the bows at his house.
