Folks some may know some may not but my wife and I adopted three little girls and our youngest named Darci was born with no thumbs just 4 fingers on each hand!
They call that Pollicization and her hands turn inward to a 45 degree angle.

She will be in Sinai Hospital in Baltimore Md. on Dec. 22nd.to have her index finger moved to the position of where her thumb should be.
We were trying to have this done earlier but she had to have heart surgery before this operation and we have another daughter that had cleft lip and needed lip surgery and we had to move things around and this is a date where my wife has off during Christmas week and we both can tend to her while wearing a cast !

She can have both done at same time but Dr. said she can have it done whenever she wants through her life and her right hand is limited on bending her fingers but her left she can bend so the left will get done first.

I'm praying in Jesus name that God will guide the Dr's hands and she recovers well and can use her new thumb so she can grasp her new bike that is on her Santa list!

This little girl is so amazing to watch as she does things that are impossible for some folks to do.

She has a little plastic bow I got her this summer with those rubber suction cups and she can fling them with a little help and I let her shoot my Old daisy B.B. gun with a little help but she absolutely try's everything and anything that challenge's her!

I love our girls that God has gifted us with and I thank you Father for letting this 54 year old be a Father !
If you all will we appreciate your prayers for Darci!
God Bless and Merry Christmas to All!

Indeed, Keith those Girls of yours are your pride and joy and a gift from God. With their many challenges it takes a special heart to embrace them as you and your bride have done...

Prayers for all to go super well for Darci and her Christmas will be one where she is not in a lot of post op pain or discomfort!

You've already blessed those 3's lives as they have blessed yours...

Keep the Son in your eyes, hoss!

Thanks to Each and every one of you for being devoted "Prayer Warriors " to our little girls and for all your kind words !

I think my wife and I are more nervous about her operation then she is and the other night she wanted to say grace at the table and our little 6 year old was asking God to guide the Dr's hands as they give her a thumb and she thanked God for it!

That really touched my heart that she likes to say grace and ask for prayers and praises our heavenly Father for All He has done !

One of the neatest things we found out is her therapist that she will have back home here when the operation is over is the same therapist I had when I was 22 years old and severed my right hand in a log splitter !

That was 32 years ago and God had this all planned out and to have the same therapist just blows my mind cause she was a great therapist and I was able to pull a string again with that hand.

Again "Our family thanks you All"!

Those girls will keep you in GREAT stories for a long, long time...

The log splitter incident was THAT long ago... good gracious! 54...you getting to be an old dog, Keith!  :)

Pretty neat on the PT person.  Better let the wife take her, you'll wanna ratchet jaw with her and distract her from her work...   :knothead:

Doc,

Yes sir it was 32 years ago on Dec.1st 1985 and I was putting a big log on the horizontal "I" beam and my brother in Law (wasn't at the time) pushed the lever while I was just resting the log down and my hand went against the splitter's wedge and log was pushed by the hydraulic arm and blood poured out and I was taken to a Hand center in Baltimore 2 hours later.

They were going to amputate it if my nerves didn't take but 4 days later I moved it ever so slightly and I had maybe 25 splints made throughout my therapy sessions and 8 pins to hold my fingers on until my bones mended .
I found out the window for a severed hand  or limb if iced down is about 2 hours so if that ever happens to anyone which I pray doesn't get the finger or whatever and Ice it down and get to the emergency room A.S.A.P. and if you have a good Dr. and Trust in God's healing power you just may be able to save it.

As Darci shows me how she can hold a small cup with just her 4 fingers it takes me back when I showed my mother the first time I was able to hand her a glass of sweet tea and my Mom's expression on how amazed she was to see I was able to open up my hand just enough to hold a glass.

I too am amazed to see our little Darci do the same thing and as I said before this little sweet girl Bless's my heart and I am so grateful to have her as our daughter.

Tomorrow's the day, prayer warriors!  I'm getting mine in early to avoid the Christmas rush!

Nice that Darci is not as anxious as the parents (or us?) ...to have the peace and faith of a child...

Today is the day everyone that Darci will get her thumb procedure and the operation should take place at around 10:00 a.m. and be about a 3 or 4 hour operation.

My wife is going to be with her while I am at work for today and tending to our other two young daughters when I get home.

We don't have a lot of family members who are retired or grandparents that can jump in to help so I can be with my wife and Darci and that weigh's heavy on my heart this morning!

I need to tend to them and my wife knowing how to drive in the city and understands all the medical stuff she is going and staying the night!

I have a good wife and a great mother to these girls and I thank God for her and all she does !

I also thank you all and as soon as I hear word and get home here I'll post how things are going!

God bless each of you and Lord I lift our little Darci up to you as you guide the hands to perform this procedure so one of your little lambs can do even more with her hands you created her with. Please be with my wife as well as she travels and give her peace .
Please be with Darci and keep her pain minimal .

I ask all this in your perfect Son's name Jesus!

Doc Nock

Indeed, li'l Brother, you done good on the mate and chilluns choices!  Prayers will continue all day!  Keep us posted
