She's been laid up with flu like symptoms  for 11 days now and to top it off the blood doctor told us today that she has extremly low white blood cell count. Please pray that it is something that can be returned to normal and not one of those "icky" things that I have trouble even saying or talking about.
             Thank you, Dave

Prayers sent for her healing. Hang in there David and take care of her. No one wants an ailment that you can't even pronounce.

Doc Nock

More prayers for your bride to be diagnosed quickly and treatment ensue that will bring her back to full health.

Could be so many things... make sure they check for Lyme, brother...not a "titer test" but the blood culture type... Seeing a bunch of that locally again so it's fresh in my mind.

Keep the Son in your eyes and heart!
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Well tests came back today and bad news is it is leukemia, the good news its treatable kind so now we pray the cemo works that they start on her tomorrow.
Thanks, Dave

Dave,

My Wife is a cancer Survivor. The road ahead of you will be difficult. Her fighting cancer will define you both for a while. And, that is okay.

Chemo will be tough but you will get thru it.

It is important that you support your wife and give her strength. It is important that others support you and give you strength.

Take care of the caretaker.

My wife and I have been thru this (3 Operations, Chemo, Radiation and spot Radiation) and I offer you support. My number is 512-567-3329.

One more thing, my Wife did not like the word cancer. So, she wouldn't say it. She wasn't denying that she had cancer. She just wanted to have some control over it.

She decided to call it something else. She thinks the word "Pickles" is funny. She called cancer "Pickles" and would laugh and she wasn't so scared.

Find little things to laugh about, it helps.

Oh, I got her a little stuffed animal. It was a Pug, she called it Pickles. She took it to the hospital and chemo and radiation. I am suprised the darn thing doesn't glow.

Now, Pickles has an honored spot on the bedstand. He is not a reminder of how difficult the times were but he is a reminder of her will to be strong and turn the cancer into something she could fight.

Lastly, I don't capitalize the C in cancer. It doesn't deserve that kind of recognition.

DAve,

There are some powerful words of wisdom right there in Matt's two posts. Use them!

Prayers continue for His will to be for complete healing. God always provides strength beyond our wildest dreams...but it doesn't mean we will like the journey any more than Christ did his final one for us!

Matt, thank you. Hearing these words help. I know I'm reading them but it is almost like hearing you say them. Also thank you to everyone for your prayers. Plans did change a little today. The Doc wants her body to recover from the flu for a bit before the cemo so I got to bring her home today until Monday mourning. But unfortunatly it will be at least a 3 week stay after that.
Thanks again, Dave

Doc Nock

Prayers for strength, courage, surrender and the end of "pickles". Keep strong and never say "uncle".  God will provide in His way and time.

Dave,

Continue to make posts. We care! We send you continued prayers and strength. Lean on those that love you.

Also, you don't have to listen to anyone's small minded view of how you should act or feel.

I found it frustrating to get all kinds of advice about how to "handle" my Wife's cancer from people that had never been thru it.

My wife and I had several miscarriges before having my son. One of the worst is when we miscarried twins. People thought they were being helpful when they said "you can always try again, you can always have another". I didn't want another, I wanted that baby! Or those twins!

My point is, you can control your environment. You can control who you listen to and who you talk to. Take the good and leave out the bad.

One more time, this will pass! She will get well! Life will return to normal.

In the meantime, this is an opportunity to grow together. It really is! Strange as it may seem now, your marrige can be better after cancer than before.

I forgot. Watch lots of comedies during Chemo. Lucy, Andy Griffith, Beverly Hillbillies, Seinfeld, Gilligan, Boston Legal, whatever you want. Watch them together when you can. It was a big help to laugh a lot!

Listen to Matt. The old saying is "laughter is the best medicine".

Thank you everyone, today is the last bag of the cemo drugs and so far her spirits are good. Still don't know what lies ahead. Matt I think I will give you a call, it's my spirits when I get back at night to a empty house that I need to work on.

Doc Nock

May your "empty" house be filled with the Holy Spirit that he make his name Counselor felt by you in ways unimaginable and totally overpowering

David,

I choked up and welled up when I read your words, "it's my spirits when I get back at night to a empty house that I need to work on".

Oh, how my heart goes out to you.

My wife and I were talking about her last round of chemo. There was an excitement about it being her last one. We knew the next few weeks would be bad. The chemo was sucking the life out of her. But, we knew, in a month or so, she would start to rebound and ... rebound for good!

Remember, you need to take care of the care taker. There will be peaks and valleys ahead. Take care of yourself so you don't flame out.

It is a Marathon and not a Sprint!

Gentlemen,

I spoke with Dave (Mooseman) today. He is a very brave man going thru a very difficult situation.

His comment about an "empty house" is a very sad story and my heart cries for him. Under the weight he is carrying, I would have collapsed.

Please, continue to pray for his wife, his family, and Dave.

Matt,

Thanks for "standing in the gap" for our brother in such need.

Prayers continue for the Holy Spirit to rest on Dave, his wife and family to provide the "peace that passes all understanding."
